Tough.

The Depressing Truth

You’ve put your blood, sweat and tears into building something great. You handcrafted it from sustainably gathered bald eagle feathers, baby tears and triple-distilled titanium. You spent every spare hour working to make it the most perfect product the world has ever seen.

And no one cares.

Sonia Simone

In fact, as much as I think Sonia is about twenty times more intelligent than I, the real truth is there is very little in this world which really merits our attention at all. We don’t need anything really. We don’t need 99% of the crap which surrounds us and fills our senses in every possible way. The fact is in a world of extreme value-adding service industries the whole thing is held together with pieces of Scotch tape and string.

The lesson is to motivate people to care. If people care, they want. If they want, they talk. If they talk then you have half a chance of not sinking your business in the first six months.

Tough huh?

Yes, it is a tough world there. Personally, among other things, if you want to put up a business, you need money, knowledge, and lots of luck.

Businesses which are started with no money, no knowledge and a string of bad luck are certainly off to a bad start.

But even if your business starts on a shoe string, you don’t know everything and you run into unexpected things you can still succeed in getting the thing off the ground if you have the ability to motivate people to care about what you are doing.

One way or the other, it’s tough.
