The mightiest and snottiest came crashing down in 2008 and without entering into a moral minefield these things are certain for 2009:
Business practice is not set in stone.
Business is not risk-free.
Business is not a science.
Business is not without tears.
Business is not the domain of old, white men in expensive suits.
Business magazines are for the most part useless and secondhand babble.
Business has no cruising speed.
Business has no comfort zone.
Business has no memory.
Business never sleeps.
Business models are only as good as the last business to have used them.
Business is too complicated and ballsy for economists to understand (otherwise they would be out making money instead of blathering about how others should be doing it).
Business is the ultimate rush.
Business is like life (only harder).
Good luck for 2009. May the wind be at your back and the sun on your face. Go get ’em.
